Our ProgramS
At Poker Hill School, we offer a full day program for 3-5 year old children. Our school operates on a typical school-year schedule, open from September to June. We follow the Mount Mansfield Unified Union school district for holiday and vacation closings. The core program runs from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. with extended care hours available both before and after school.
We offer two programs: a two-day per week program on Tuesday and Thursday for 3-4 year olds; a three-day-per week program on Monday, Wednesday and Friday for 4-5 year olds (pre-kindergarten year). We complete our enrollment lists in the spring preceding the beginning of the school year. We aim to be fully enrolled before summer break and seldom have openings for mid-year enrollments. Please visit the Admissions page for more information about the application process.
**Please note that state funding for preschool programs and universal public preschool policies are constantly being reviewed and amended. Our current programs reflect the needs of our community at this time. Those interested in submitting applications for future enrollment should be aware that our programs, in terms of number of days and times offered as well as ages of children we serve, may change as state legislation evolves.
The typical child to staff ratio is 6-7 children per teacher. Our staff is highly qualified and experienced. The teachers at Poker Hill School all have college degrees and years of experience in the field of early childhood. We support nature-based teaching and learning and use our 30-acre property as a canvas for encouraging children to be curious about the world around them.
Poker Hill School can be nut-free if needed. Food allergies can be accommodated. For more information about preparing and packing peanut-free and tree nut-free lunches and snacks, please visit: http://www.foodallergy.org/.
