Starting School Checklist 2024-2025
Be ready for school by completing the following tasks:

​​Prior To The First Day:

  • Download the Brightwheel app and create an account
    • Make sure that anyone else who will be picking up or dropping off my child also has the Brightwheel app
  • Plan drop-off transition
    • Talk with my child about drop-off procedures
    • Share social stories about preschool transitions
    • Prepare myself emotionally for saying good-bye
  • Complete any paperwork still needed (permissions, health information form,  brightwheel profile, etc)

Daily At Drop Off:

  • Sunscreen your child before drop off.
  • Check your child in using the brightwheel app.
  • Walk your child to the drop off door where you will say goodbye.
  • Don't forget to wave or blow a kiss as you walk away.

Pack The Following For your Child:


  • Extra light layers or appropriate outerwear for extended outdoor time
  • Lunch and snack (an afternoon snack for children in extended care) in a lunchbox, with the lunchbox and containers all clearly labeled with child’s name and which meal they’re for (ie. lunch, snack)
  • Water bottle, with name clearly written on it
  • Tote bag (or backpack) that is easy for my child to manage independently
  • Extra clothes: 2 each of extra socks, pants, shirts and underwear
  • Sunscreen and/or bug repellent (if not using sunscreen provided by PHS)
